Editor Review

The York air conditioners made between 2006-2008 had defective coils and many consumer reviews complain about the way York handled the problem. While it is believed that York has fixed this problem on new models we would not recommend York air conditioners at this time because of the prior problems. York makes the 8T unit in the high efficiency 18 SEER range but does not make an ultra high efficiency 20+ SEER unit. Both the 8T 18 SEER and the 5T 15 SEER York air conditioners use a two stage compressor for higher efficiency and more comfort.

This York air conditioner is beautiful and it works good to keep my house comfortable. Going on a year since it was first installed and havent had a single problem. York is number one in my book!

We replaced our old two-unit system 1 year ago with two York units. They have worked great until a week ago when one of them developed a leak in the evaporator coil. This is called a blue coil because the fins are blue - York is replacing the coil because all of them manufactured between 2006 and 2008 are defective

The major air conditioner manufacturers make multiple brands, and industry experts say that these brands are not distinct.
