If you are looking for a quality medium efficiency air conditioner we recommend that you consider both the Rheem Classic and Prestige product lines. The high efficiency Rheem air conditioners have two stage condensing unit which means they are more efficient and also provide more comfort to you. Rheem makes air conditioners in the 13 SEER up to the 18 SEER range. They do not make ultra high efficiency air conditoners in the 20+ range. Rheem also makes Ruud air conditioners.

Recommended Rheem Air Conditioners

  • 16 SEER - JEC/JEZ 16 Series

I have a Rheem Class Series unit for little over a year. It is rated 13 SEER. It has been working fine w/o problem. Approximately saving about 30% of my electric bill during the summer compared to my 12 yrs old 10 SEER (Bryant). I intent to replace a 2nd unit for my upstair but the old freon 12R is no longer sold in market.

Bought the top of the line High Efficiency Rheem for house I had built. In 3 yrs had to replace compresser, freon elec etc. Each visit was charged a service call and cost for parts and freon etc. cost saveings for this green unit is nill. Several hundred dollars in service calls later would replace if I could afford too.

The major air conditioner manufacturers make multiple brands, and industry experts say that these brands are not distinct.
