If you are looking for a high quality central air conditioner we recommend the Infinity product line by Carrier. All of the Carrier Infinity Air Conditioners are high efficiency and are rated up to 21 SEER. The Infinity series is very quiet and rated as low as 68dB. The Carrier Infinity series air conditioners have two stages which means they are more efficient and also provide more comfort to you since they dont cycle completely on and off but can cycle to an intermediate stage whcih allows the system to keep the air temperatue in a narrower range. The Carrier Infinity air conditioners use the newest Puron refrigerant.

Recommended Carrier Air Conditioners

  • 21 SEER - Infinity Series
  • 16.5 SEER - Performance Series

The consumer reviews are generally positive for the Carrier air conditioners although some consumers complain about reliability problems with compressors and coils and a range of other problems that can be attributed to faulty installation from the contractor and not Carrier issues.

COMPARED TO TRANE UNITS BRYANT SEEMS TO BE OF LOW QUALITY. THE TRANE UNIT THAT I HAD IN TEXAS (AIR RAN EVERY DAY) NEVER BROKE DOWN OR NEEDED REPAIR. THE BRYANT UNIT NEEDS REPAIR EVERY SPRING.

I had a new Carrier air conditioner installed about 3 years ago. It worked fine for two years and then we had a problem with the cooling. We called and the man told us the compressor was bad. We had it replaced and its been running fine ever since. The service company told us if we would had a regular maintencace plan then we porably wouldn't have lost the compressor.

The major air conditioner manufacturers make multiple brands, and industry experts say that these brands are not distinct.
